MEET AMANDA, DIRECTOR OF RETAIL AT BATCH
What is your background?
I studied Business Management and Finance at Colorado State University, with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship. I jumped into a career in retail right after graduation, which eventually brought me out to San Francisco. I then had the opportunity to open and manage stores abroad, spending time in both Germany and Poland (Sie ma! Sie ma!).
Upon my return to the US I have had the great fortune to work for Vail Resorts, Ralph Lauren and Pottery Barn in various capacities, but have truly found a home here at Batch!!
What is your role at Batch?
Director of Retail
How did you get interested in design?
Interior design has always been a creative outlet for me on a personal level. As a kid, I loved looking through floor plans and interior design magazines, rearranging my bedroom every other month to keep things ‘fresh’. I think it’s so cool how the mood of a room can change with the addition of color, a new piece of art or a simple arrangement of flowers.
What is your favorite part about working at Batch?
I love discovering and partnering with all of the amazing brands we have in the Showroom. It’s so much fun learning their stories and getting to know their products, and then sharing it all with our customers in such a genuine and unique space.
How would you describe your personal design style?
Coastal Modern. I love clean lines and work hard to reduce clutter. However, I always want a warm cozy retreat. I love natural light, adding natural elements throughout a room with pops of color for interest. Navy is always a good idea.
What inspires your personal style?
I would say my personal style is most influenced by experiences. Traveling, exploring the city or just talking with friends and family.
What does “trendy” mean to you?
Trellis patterns and flouncy sleeve sweaters. Great for a minute, but don’t invest a lot of time and money. I think that trendy pieces rarely tell a story that’s worth knowing.
How would you describe the San Francisco design scene? How is it different than other parts of the country?
I think the design scene in San Francisco is very much reflective of the city as a whole; a lot of opportunity, freedom and support.
What is your favorite space in your home?
The living room for sure! Being in a one bedroom here in San Francisco, the living room is really where everything happens. Hosting friends & family, watching movies and playing with our puppy, Giggs! It’s in a constant state of transition, but we have this beautiful wainscoting throughout so it makes the room feel more polished than it actually is.
What are some of favorites brands or pieces at Batch?
Very obsessed with Revival Rugs! Originating from Turkey, they are all so beautiful in design and I love that each rug is rich with history. As a consumer I appreciate that they are breathing life back into these vintage pieces, creating a smaller impact from an environmental standpoint.
