How to Design a California Cool Inspired Home

California is home to endless inspiration. The beachy, boho-infused California Cool vibe is especially en vogue for home decor. Who wouldn’t want their home to feel like a coastal chic hideout? At Batch, we can't get enough of the California Cool decor, and we infuse the clean, and inviting sensibilities into all of our spaces.

Achieving the look is a balance between minimal and polished, with just the perfect amount of personality. Bringing this style home is easier than you think, and we're sharing some tips on how to incorporate our favorite aesthetic in your space.

Stick to a light and neutral color palette

To make your space feel open and airy, neutral colors are your best friend. Keeping linens within the same color palette adds a simplicity that is easily enriched by adding different textures. Keep neutrals in mind for your entire space – your kitchen, bathroom, living room and master bedroom – to create a cohesive look throughout your home.

Add color with beautiful art and accessories

While the base of your home should be neutral, that doesn't mean you can't incorporate a pop of color! Incorporating a palette that draws inspiration from nature is a fresh way to add organic vibes. Don't forget about your dining room and kitchen! Seek interesting light fixtures made of mixed materials, including rope, leather, and linen. Sconces are super fashionable right now; don’t be afraid to play with shape and scale.

Layer rugs liberally

As the key grounding element, area rugs are the one piece that ties everything together. Flat-weaves are a current favorite as they are easy to move around and can be casually thrown over more casual natural fiber mats to create a laid back look. You already know how much we love Revival Rugs, and their unique collection of vintage rugs from Turkey!

Go green

Enliven your space with some leafy greens! We also love cacti and succulent arrangements. Plus, houseplants purify the air and enhance the sense of well-being. Choose interesting containers, from reactive glazed vessels to hand-woven baskets.
